A blog usually has a hub page that summarises the available blog posts. From the hub page, you can click into individual posts. You can tag and categorise your posts so that they organise into lists that can sit under a menu heading. Blog posts can be used for more than just writing articles. They can be used as a portfolio of your work, or to showcase a video series.
An about page can be about your business and how it began, its values, philosophy and mission. Most of the time it should also include information about the person or people behind the business. If you have a medium sized organisation, you may need to separate your about section into different pages, such as About (the people/team) About (the business) About (the kaupapa/business mission).
